A Corporation’s History of Doctors Beyond the Clinics 1983 saw the birth of Pediatric Associates, Inc. From a small group of pediatricians, its membership has increased over the years. Simple idealism bonded these doctors: a common desire to take an active role in improving health care delivery in the Philippines.

In its period of infancy, it took initial small steps and ventured into pharmaceutical drugs and gadgets. PAI was an adolescent in 1995, when it found its niche in the distribution of diagnostics with the launching of Typhidot, a species-specific rapid diagnostic test for typhoid fever. In 2000, the company included distribution of vaccines as service to clinicians.

It was when PAI was about to end its 2nd decade of corporate existence and after a series of changes in management (2002) that it fully matured taking a steady course in corporate directions. The company continued and expanded its distribution of rapid diagnostic tests from amoebiasis (elisa), malaria, dengue fever, h. pylori, tuberculosis, rotavirus and adenovirus infection to myocardial infarction markers, prostate serum antigen and pregnancy among others. In 2004 PAI launched Typhirapid and later distributed Typhiliza. In 2006, the Company started to take big steps and Quikread Point of Care products were introduced to the market. And in 2007, EZTB PCR and the latest of the ultimate in rapid typhoid diagnostic test, the Typhidot rapid IgM shared PAI’s center stage.

To date, it has the exclusive distributorship in the Philippines of Malaysian Biological Diagnostics Research (MBDR), Inverness Medical Professional Diagnostic, Orion Diagnostica, Alfa Scientific Designs, Inc., Pentax Corporation.

PAI has not limited itself to its business of maintaining viability and profit; it has taken itself to task as a good corporate citizen as it has likewise taken a share in supporting research and academic endeavors and community service.

PAI shall carry on its task of being a reliable partner in enhancing healthcare delivery within and beyond the clinics. PAI believes, that where the greatest resources: health and life, are on the line, time can not be wasted and dependability is not to be taken for granted. And as a distributor of rapid diagnostics tests, it is set to keep itself as one that is …a cut above the rest.
